New York native, David Hyman, has stealthily been crafting an evocative, melody-obsessed blend of experimental, folk and classical music that you almost never got a chance to hear. Only pressure from his late grandmother, Magda, "to let people hear the music!" moved Hyman to begin self-recording in his Beacon loft and finally let others in on the melodies that, for years, he's been listening for and whittling down on morning-rush, coffee-vendor lines, vibrating, end-of-day subway platforms and pretty much everywhere else in between.
"My grandmother was the person I went to to air a melody under construction. I set about self-recording recently to realize something she wanted for me and my art: namely, that you hear it, and that I get over myself enough to enjoy sharing it."
Hyman's debut recording effort is called "Staring at the Walls." You can listen to tracks from the project as they are completed at www.StaringAtTheWalls.com.
